What email clients do your mailing contacts use?

Every self-respecting email service provider offers reporting on bounces, showing deliverability-issues on different email domains.

Lots of people forget a crucial part behind these domains, the email client usage.

Discovering these statistics is essential when you take renderability into account. Does it matter if your email looks like crap in Lotus Notes if there is not even one subscriber using this email client? On the other hand, what if, for example, your tables are not visualized in a correct way in Outlook 2007, but 75% of your database uses this email client?

Knowing which email clients are commonly used ensure you that your email messages will be visible as you want to.

Future mobile evolution

Not only the different email clients can be checked. Also think about the evolution of reading emails on mobile devices as the iPhone or Blackberry. Next to that you can even discover which web browsers are used to read online versions of your email newsletter. Finally you can also check email client updates, for example who updates from Outlook 2003 to Outlook 2007, etc.

Online tools offer you the ability to check this email client usage, so we strongly advice you to take a look at it on the net. A tip from EmailGarage is Fingerprint. We are using it, feel free to try it out and optimize your own email marketing campaigns!

Jelle... as most reporting tools, it is based on uploading an image, so you will have no information about people not downloading the images. But yes, a funky tool and gives a good indication.

Thanks for the feedback Hans. Indeed a very important remark you make here. Not exact science, but a good indication.

Great tool! Our favorite email client doesn't offer that so we're eager to try it out.
